When I first met Jude, some thirty years ago, I simply wanted him to make my sister happy. He did.
Hey Jude, you took a sad song and made it better. Yes, he made my sister happy, but he did so much more.
Jude was a blessing to my parents, a joy for my family, and an inspiration to us all.
Thank you Jude. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Well, as I mentioned, he was always so personable and courteous on the relatively few occasions we spoke. One conversation we had was an abbreviated one that unfortunately we never took up again: it was about his years in the retail shoe business. And of course, I never got to pose the usual "tourist" questions (the answers to which I would have enjoyed learning about and I'm sure he would have patiently explained): "how did you feel about the Beatles' smash hit "Hey, Jude" and did anyone NOT tease you about it?" R.I.P.
